“…in walked Gia. Right off the train from Philadelphia, on a typical go-see. …she was a very special face, extremely beautiful, sexy and cool. ..Chris Von Wangenheim saw her too. He was so smitten he wanted her all to himself. So goes love for a model.” – Arthur Elgort
Vogue fashion photographer Arthur Elgort gave Gia her first big break. In 1993, he published this collection of hundreds of his best portraits and candids. More than 500 color and b/w photos featuring dozens the hottest models from the 1970’s, 80’s and 90’s.
Gia was a favorite subject of Elgort’s and is one of the few models to receive her own chapter. It includes one of Elgort’s first photos of her that ran in American Vogue in 1978. Additionally, there are five arresting pictures of Gia (incl. a nude candid), plus personal words from Elgort, and Vogue editor Polly Mellen.
Other supermodels featured within are Cindy Crawford, Christy Turlington, Linda Evangelista, Claudia Schiffer, Stephanie Seymour, Janice Dickinson, Patti Hansen, Carre Otis, Helena Christiansen, Kate Moss, Naomi Campbell, Shalom Harlow and Elaine Irwin.
