only model to grace the cover of Cosmo twice in the years 1979 and 1980.
Francesco Scavullo was the cover photographer for
Cosmopolitan
magazine at the time. His favorite subject? Gia Carangi.

fall as a cover model.
Gia's last Cosmo cover (American) was April 1982, exactly four years after
her first Cosmo cover. By 1983, Gia couldn't get modeling work in
the U.S., and ended up taking jobs in Germany, Greece, Brasil and Russia.

an attempt to help her jumpstart her comeback. Gia appears bloated and
her arms are placed behind her dress to hide Gia's track marks.
