GIA CARANGI ON ABC
TV'S 20/20
"It kind of creeps up on you and catches you in a world that's, you
know, none that anyone will every know except someone that has been
there." - Gia Carangi
In
1982, ABC TV's 20/20 produced an in-depth report on the modeling
industry. They profiled supermodel Gia as an example of what they
called "the dark side of modeling", with an angle on her highly publicized
drug abuse.
Makeup artist
Sandy Linter appears in the segment,
applying makeup to Gia and preparing her for a mock photo shoot.
Famed fashion photographer,
Francesco Scavullo, did the honors behind
the camera.
Gia's eyes appear glazed and it's apparent she was under the
influence during this interview in which she discusses that drug abuse
is behind her.
Notice the time-counter in
the screen shots. This footage is straight from the archives at ABC TV.
