VH1'S BEHIND THE MUSIC: STUDIO 54
From our video
vault...
|
 |
In 2001, VH1 produced
a fascinating documentary on Studio 54.
VH1 writes: "Studio 54: Behind The Music features new and exclusive candid
interviews with many of those who not only observed but helped to create
the Studio 54 experience, including Grace Jones, Liz Smith, Jerry Hall,
Robin Leach, Anthony Haden-Guest, Nile Rogers, and many of the
bartenders and doormen who had front row seats to the Studio 54
spectacle.
The program also includes the last known interview of founder Steve Rubell,
who died an AIDS-related death in 1989 at the age of 45." |
|
The interviews are enthralling. Hear recounts from various
bartenders and door-guys, party promoters, attendees, pre-and-post-Rubell/Shrager
owners, and the two legends themselves.
View actual video footage from inside Studio 54 when all the celebrities were
present, in their delightfully inebriated state.
We were lucky to have taped the show when it aired. It hasn't
been shown much since, and has not been released on DVD nor YouTube.
